Montessori Method is an educational approach developed by Italian physician and educator Dr. Maria Montessori and characterized by an emphasis on independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child’s natural psychological, physical, and social development.
- The Montessori Method’s aims is to help children to meet their satisfaction from the movements in a more perfect and orderly manner
- The teacher’s aim is to help children build up their independence, become the masters of their environment and conscious of their power over it.
- In Montessori Method, it is not about the teacher. It is about the child and the environment. To choose what children want for their own use, and works with it according to his own needs, tendencies and special interest.
- The inside need’s satisfactions of the children which actually directs the consciousness of the child to the determined object and leads it gradually to a primordial, but complex and repeated exercise of the intelligence in comparing, judging, deciding upon an act, and correcting an error. Internal exercises are primarily “in themselves” the end and aim of action
